Event Details

This free two-hour evening session is for anyone who is curious about the unique principles and practices of OpenAgile, an innovative agile methodology that is billed as “The World’s Only Open Source Agile Method.” You will learn a lot, whether you are new to agile or have experience using methodologies like Scrum and Extreme Programming. The instructor, David Parker, is the OpenAgile Institute’s Executive Director, and can answer all your questions about this uniquely “agile” approach to agile, including how it may dovetail with your current Scrum practices.

Please note that this event is free, but we are requiring registration in order to offer PDUs to our friends who are members of the Project Management Institute.

Course Description

This course will cover the OpenAgile Primer and introduce terminology specific to OpenAgile. You’ll learn what makes OpenAgile unique, including its use of broadened terminology for many different work environments (not just software development), emphasis on “capacity-building” over certification, and clarified role definitions.

In addition, you’ll learn the specific benefits of OpenAgile, including:

  • simple practices and low bureaucracy
  • emphasizing self-organization and volunteering for tasks
  • drawing on the unique strengths of all contributors
  • producing continuous process improvement
  • increasing productivity and quality
  • facilitating rapid response and adaptation to change
  • creating visible and measurable impacts

Last but far from least, you will learn all about further reading and training opportunities offered through the OpenAgile Institute.

Where and when?

We’ll be holding this course at the Round Table Pizza in San Mateo. And yes, the pies are on us, so come early!
